Since 2010 the beef & pork industry has seen some significant price increases, as much as
14-28% and it’s expected to continue at a rate of 1-5% a month, this trend should continue
through the summer. Meat prices are currently rising faster than overall food costs; they
haven’t seen increases like this in 28 years.
Attributing to these increases is the HIGH demand for beef and pork overseas; a result of the
recent events in the Middle East, the tsunami in Japan and REDUCED production in the
States, a result of high fuel and feed prices.
